Linares, historically known for its mining past and the Santana factory, is experiencing a renaissance driven by the success of its table tennis project. This sport has become a true 'gold mine' for the city, generating prestige, publicity, and significant economic returns, according to a recent article by the communication manager of the Real Club Tenis de Mesa Linares.
The economic impact is palpable: families of foreign players residing and training in the city, the spending of visiting clubs, and the organization of major events like the AEJVTM, which gathered 600 people, or the European Cup, attract considerable commercial and hospitality activity.
On the sporting front, the club is living through one of its most glorious eras. The first team, Tecnigen Linares, has returned to the Men's Superdivision. Added to this achievement is the promotion of the first men's reserve team to the Honor Division and the promotion of the Second Division team to the First Division. For the 2026/2027 season, Linares will have representation in all national categories, both men's and women's, an unprecedented feat in the country.
Furthermore, the Cliniqas.com team (from CD Indiana Games) has conquered a historic European title, securing its place in the next European Cup. The women's team has achieved permanence in the Women's Honor Division with a young squad and has performed excellently in the Women's First National Division.
Individual successes complement the collective ones. Blanca Muñoz won the State Tournament and Mónica Carrasco reached the podium in the same national competition.
