The bullfighter from Linares, Francisco Díaz Flores, artistically known as Curro Díaz, officially received the honorary distinction of Favorite Son of the City of Linares this Thursday. The event took place in the Crystal Courtyard of the Municipal Palace, fulfilling the plenary agreement that approved the recognition.
The mayor, Auxi del Olmo, presented the bullfighter with the medal of Linares and a framed diploma. The ceremony was attended by numerous local authorities, representatives from the bullfighting world, family members, and the general public.
“"Curro was not only born in Linares. Curro belongs to Linares. And Linares, in a way, also belongs to him."
The mayor emphasized that the appointment not only recognizes a brilliant professional career but also represents the gratitude of the people of Linares, a city that has felt proud of one of its most illustrious sons for carrying the name of Linares throughout Spain and beyond its borders.
Curro Díaz, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the title to the memory of his father, who recently passed away.
