The recognition has been placed on the facade of the emblematic building that once housed the offices of the former British Vice-Consulate, a property inextricably linked to the region's mining heyday.
This institutional and civil initiative originated in the classrooms of the CEIP Marqueses de Linares, through the educational and research project ‘Following in the footsteps of Horace Sandars’. The school community delved into the legacy of this English scholar, whose passion for Linares' subsoil led him to make important contributions to local archaeology.
For the successful completion of this historical recovery project, the educational community received the technical and financial support of the Linares City Council and the MLC Foundation.
The solemn ceremony for the unveiling of the commemorative plaque was presided over by the Councilor Delegate for Education, Rosario Jódar, accompanied by other representatives of the Municipal Corporation, as well as the students and teaching staff.
