The renowned athlete Carolina Marín has delivered a powerful message in defense of her native land, Huelva, emphasizing its natural, gastronomic, and human richness. During her speech at the Lonja de Innovación, Marín underscored the pride she feels for her origins and how she carries the name of Huelva around the world.
Marín stressed that the people of Huelva often do not fully appreciate their land's fortune until they compare it with other places. "We are one of the few cities with both sea and mountains, we have a gastronomy that the whole world envies, globally, and a climate I would love to have all year round," she stated, also highlighting the warmth and energy of its people.
“"If we had the AVE and, of course, an airport, if we are already rich with what we have, we would be much richer."
However, the champion did not shy away from pointing out the province's shortcomings, identifying the lack of transport connections as the main obstacle to development. "What would we be missing? I believe that if we had the AVE and, of course, an airport," she concluded, arguing that these infrastructures would allow people to arrive and depart more easily, thus opening up more opportunities for investment and growth for the city.
Marín concluded her speech with a call for self-valuation so that outsiders also recognize Huelva's potential. "We must value ourselves so that outsiders value us," she reiterated, insisting that improving connectivity is a fundamental step to boost local development and attract new opportunities.
