The special operation for the San Agustín Fair in Linares will deploy 62 Local Police officers, supported by Civil Protection volunteers, to handle approximately 400 services. New additions include a drone and a canine unit to enhance surveillance and security during the celebrations.
The main objective is to ensure maximum safety and a rapid response to any incidents. To this end, the CECOP (emergency coordination center) will be reinstalled to improve coordination among different services. The Councillor for Local Police and Civil Protection, Mariola Aranda, and the Chief Superintendent, José Pereira, detailed the measures.
New park-and-ride areas will be established to facilitate access to the fairgrounds and reduce vehicle pressure in nearby zones. The Local Police recommend using public transport and following traffic instructions.
The fairgrounds will be a high-concentration point, but the city will not be left unprotected, maintaining regular police presence and reinforcing key areas. The plan emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary coordination among Security Forces and Corps, Emergency Services, and municipal departments.
Following last year's success, a specific unit of uniformed officers will focus on the fair's booth area, while other officers with public security training will perform preventive functions. Controls will also be in place for leisure activities, street vending, loading and unloading zones, and public transport (bus and taxi) will be reinforced to connect different city neighborhoods.
Additionally, women's protection services (Promupol) will be strengthened for effective assistance in potential gender-based violence cases.
