The North Jaén Health Management Area, in collaboration with the Linares City Council and the University of Jaén, has implemented an emotional support and health assistance program for students taking the University Entrance Exam (PAU) at the Linares Scientific-Technological Campus.
On June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, school nurses and municipal psychologists were present to offer direct support to the young students, who often experience high academic pressure and emotional stress during these exams.
This initiative is part of the ongoing work by school nurses in the town's high schools, who have previously conducted group sessions and information stands to promote the emotional well-being of second-year Baccalaureate students.
“
"University entrance exams generate a significant emotional burden for many young people, and we consider it essential that they feel accompanied and supported from the health sector as well."
“
"The fact that we nurses are professionals known for the sessions we conduct in their schools encourages students to approach us with confidence when they need help or simply emotional support."
The support team deployed during the PAU days included school nurses and two psychologists from the Linares City Council, working collaboratively to address potential anxiety crises, acute stress episodes, or any situation requiring immediate health or psychological intervention.
The Linares City Council also contributed professionals from its Psychology department and provided water and fruit for the students, promoting healthy eating and hydration habits during these particularly demanding physical and emotional days.
“
"This experience highlights the importance of coordinated work between health, education, and local administration to respond to the real needs of young people."
