The fire, which started around 5:20 PM yesterday in Santa Elena, necessitated the evacuation of nearly 200 people, including residents of a hamlet and a summer camp. From the outset, a large contingent of aerial resources attempted to curb the flames until nightfall.
Ground crews and specialized personnel continued battling the fire through the night. Counselor Sanz highlighted the "great work" accomplished, deploying "up to 19 aerial resources" before sunset to make significant progress in controlling the blaze.
Currently, authorities are monitoring the wind's behavior from 3:00 PM onwards, as a shift in its direction could impede efforts to control the flames. Several towns are currently under threat from the fire's progression.
