The Imagina Funk festival celebrates its eighteenth edition in Pozo Alcón, transforming the Jaén municipality with music from Akiba Afrobeat, Funky Times, Hip Horns Brass Collective, and Le Couple Sound.

The eighteenth edition of the Imagina Funk festival has kicked off in Pozo Alcón, filling the streets of the Jaén municipality with a festive atmosphere even before the music starts. At the Municipal Library, the queue for wristbands and accreditations reflects the anticipation of attendees, both veterans and newcomers. The entire town seems to be awaiting the event, with full terraces and booked hotels, attracting visitors from Madrid, Granada, Córdoba, the province of Jaén, and even Germany.
The schoolyard has been transformed into the main stage, where hundreds of people gather to enjoy the music. Akiba Afrobeat opened the night with an energetic performance, blending African sounds, funk, jazz, and Afro-Latin rhythms. The band filled the venue with their brass and percussion, inspiring the audience to dance.
Between concerts, artistic director César Merino, festival director Juan Ramón Canovaca, the mayor of Pozo Alcón, Iván Cruz, and the territorial director of SGAE, José Lucas Chaves, oversaw the event's development, highlighting the festival's essence and growth over its eighteen years.
The German band Funky Times, known for their social media success, continued the night, turning the schoolyard into a large dance floor. The band, led by Julia Lange, combined an eighties aesthetic with a powerful sound, and their performance was enthusiastically received by an audience singing along to their songs.
Hip Horns Brass Collective took over with a mix of New Orleans jazz, hip-hop, soul, afrobeat, and funk, maintaining the audience's energy. Later, the DJ duo Le Couple Sound, formed by Inés and Agus, closed the night with a house, disco, and afro set, extending the party into the early morning hours.
After eighteen editions, Imagina Funk has established itself as an unmissable date on the calendar in Pozo Alcón, a meeting point for funk lovers who return every July.
