According to information from the Junta de Andalucía, the project involves the renovation and adaptation of the Physiotherapy building of the former health center in Cazorla. This new primary care emergency service will be located in the facilities that previously housed the rehabilitation area.
The adaptation of these facilities has been awarded to Serveo Servicios for an amount of 138,415.42 euros (including VAT). The works were awarded on March 24 and have a contractual duration of four months, which would allow their launch this summer.
To initiate the project, it was necessary to separate the electricity, water, and sanitation supply installations of the future emergency building from the old one. Additionally, a topographic study was conducted to delimit the plot's perimeter, a crucial step for future tenders related to the new health center and the demolition of the current building.
Currently, Primary Care services are maintained at the High Resolution Hospital (HARE) of Cazorla, where they were relocated in April 2025 after the closure of the health center in the urban area due to structural deficiencies.
In response to public protests regarding the location of Primary Care outside the urban core, the Junta de Andalucía has implemented a door-to-door collection system via ambulance for patients with health and social needs. In January of this year, the Ministry of Health and the Cazorla City Council signed an institutional declaration of intent, which includes an investment of seven million euros by the Andalusian administration to build a new health center on Ximénez de Rada Street, the original location.
The new health center project entails the demolition of the current building, as well as the necessary actions to prepare the land and ensure the stability and safety of the new structure. While the new center is being built, the Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP), which had also been moved to HARE Sierra de Cazorla, will return to Cazorla's urban area once the ongoing works are completed, operating from 3:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
