The Sierra de Cádiz is in mourning following the tragic accident that occurred on a rural estate in Olvera. The victim, a man between 58 and 60 years old, lost his life after falling into a well, an event that has shocked residents and is now under judicial investigation.
The alert to the emergency services 112 was received shortly after 4:00 PM. The incident took place at a country house in the area known as «Los Rafaeles», near the CA-9109 road. An eyewitness alerted the rescue services, enabling a rapid deployment of teams, although a fatal outcome was unavoidable upon their arrival.
The recovery of the body presented a technical challenge for the personnel of the Consorcio de Bomberos de la Provincia de Cádiz (Provincial Firefighters Consortium). The Guardia Civil, leading the investigation, officers from the Local Police of Olvera and Torre Alháquime, and a medical team from the Centro de Emergencias Sanitarias 061 (061 Health Emergencies Center), which could only confirm the death, also participated in the safety and healthcare operation.
Investigators are focusing their efforts on clarifying the events. The forensic report will be crucial in determining whether the death was caused by severe trauma from the impact of the fall or by drowning after being submerged in the well.
This incident highlights the importance of prevention in rural environments. Wells and water deposits on private properties require rigorous maintenance, including safety fencing and sturdy covers to prevent accidental access. The community of Olvera awaits the investigation's findings to understand this tragedy.
