On August 12, the municipality of Aroche, in Huelva, will allow the observation of the total solar eclipse from the Roman site of Arucci Turobriga.

The Aroche City Council has announced that it will open the doors of the Roman city of Arucci Turobriga on the afternoon of August 12 to offer residents and visitors the opportunity to witness one of the most anticipated astronomical phenomena of the century: a total solar eclipse.
This unprecedented event, not seen in the Iberian Peninsula with these characteristics for over a century, can be enjoyed in a unique setting. The archaeological site, the only one of its kind visitable in the province of Huelva, will allow a perfect symbiosis between sky and earth, with the forum, baths, and domus as a backdrop.

"turning it into a moment to remember"

the mayor of Aroche · Cristina Romero Sancha
The mayor of Aroche, Cristina Romero Sancha, has encouraged everyone to "not miss this beautiful and extraordinary sunset," describing the experience as "a moment to remember."
According to the Astronomy and Technological Developments Portal of the National Geographic Institute, the total duration of the phenomenon will be 264 minutes, approximately four and a half hours. Therefore, the site will remain open to the public until 9:30 PM.
The importance of taking necessary precautions for observing the eclipse is reminded, such as using special glasses or projectors, to avoid direct observation of the Sun and protect ocular health.
