The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, has presented the novelties for the 2026-27 season of the Teatro Moderno. Alongside the delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, and the programmer of the Casa de la Cultura, Ana Fernández, the complete program was unveiled, along with aesthetic and organizational changes to modernize the venue.
Key novelties include the creation of a new logo reflecting Chiclana's identity, a revamped website for program consultation, and a new season-based subscription system. The mayor emphasized the importance of a new image and innovative programming to address new challenges and audiences.
The new logo, evoking the marsh landscape, incorporates elements reminiscent of salt flats and estuaries in the letters 'T' and 'M'. The 'M' represents sound waves, while the 'T' alludes to the ordered landscape of the salt flats and the seating arrangement of the auditorium.
The delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, highlighted the efforts to adapt spaces and programming to current times, engaging new audiences through projects like Platea and the Andalusian Network. The goal is to improve services and boost culture in Chiclana.
Ana Fernández detailed the full program, focusing on the challenge of bringing performing arts and music closer to young and family audiences. Reduced prices for young people and minors will be implemented.
The new subscription system, available by season (autumn, winter, spring) and by genre (theater, music, mixed, family), aims to foster loyalty and create new audiences. Last-minute tickets for those under 30 will be available two hours before each performance.
The 2026/27 season will feature a total of 39 shows, including proposals from the INAEM's Platea program. Six shows will arrive through this initiative, four in autumn and two in winter and spring. Children's and family programming will be increased with 12 circus, theater, and dance performances.
The program will include themes of equality, environmental care, and diversity. Morning performances have been added on Saturdays. Notable offerings for young audiences include 'Aburrimiento vocacional' and contemporary music concerts, with tickets priced at 5 euros for young people.
During 2027, a cycle 'Homage to the Generation of '27' will be held, featuring shows like 'Chapeau, un homenaje a Las Sinsombrero' and 'Federico, no hay olvido ni sueño: carne viva'. Social, documentary, and investigative theater pieces are also scheduled.
The presence of female creators is another cornerstone, with directors and performers such as Leticia Dolera, María San Miguel, Ana Cristina Leal, Ana Zamora, Ingrid Teixidó, Celia Freijeiro, Marie Delgado, Isabel Vázquez, Pepa Muriel, Alicia Tamariz, Rocío Márquez, Toni Acosta, Adriana Ozores, Loreto Mauleón, Carmen París, and Yllana gracing the Teatro Moderno stage.
Highlights of the season include concerts by Javier Ruibal, Rocío Márquez, and Carmen París. Theatrical offerings feature works by Juan Mayorga, Ron Lalá, and a comedy show by Luis Zahera.
