The congress, organized by the Association for the Defense of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (ADAOVE), will feature the participation of experts, institutions, and companies. The official presentation of the event was made by the mayor of the municipality, Emilio Torres; the Councilor for Agriculture and Olive Groves, Juan Pérez; and the secretary of ADAOVE, Rafael Civantos.
The afternoon of Thursday, September 24th, will be dedicated to an awards ceremony in the gardens of the Casa de la Cultura, recognizing outstanding achievements in the olive oil sector. The following day, Friday, September 25th, the municipal theater Maestro Álvarez Alonso will host the main congress sessions.
According to the mayor, the congress will address key sector concerns through panels and presentations, covering profitability, gastronomy, tourism, and environmental issues. Renowned experts will share their insights to identify areas for improvement and strategic focus.
The program will include round tables and conferences on gastronomy, olive tourism, promotion and marketing, as well as the influence of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) on the profitability of traditional olive grove farming and the production of quality EVOO.
Emilio Torres expressed his gratitude to ADAOVE for choosing Martos, known as the “Cradle of the Olive Grove,” to host this event. He highlighted the city's significance with its nearly 22,000 hectares of olive groves and a production capacity of up to 100 million kilos in good harvests, placing Martos at the center of the sector's attention.
Rafael Civantos, in turn, emphasized ADAOVE's mission to defend and promote the culture of extra virgin olive oil. He underscored the importance of holding the congress in Martos, one of the largest olive oil producing areas, and thanked the City Council for their full cooperation. Civantos also noted that previous editions were held outside of Andalusia.
