The phenomenon known as 'taró', a dense white fog characteristic of summer and particularly August, has once again appeared on the coast of Malaga this Saturday. The mist covered almost the entire coastal strip of the province from early morning, creating unique scenes, especially in the capital, where it reached the Cathedral of Malaga, popularly known as La Manquita.
This phenomenon occurs due to the significant temperature difference between the outside air and marine currents. The arrival of the 'taró' comes during a week when temperatures have barely changed and are expected to remain stable.
This Saturday, the 'taró' appeared amidst a heatwave, following a week marked by torrid nights in the province, with thermometers exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in the early hours in the capital. The arrival of this fog will allow for a drop in temperatures in some municipalities.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had kept yellow heat advisories active in the Antequera region, with forecasts of temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees. In Ronda, maximum temperatures will remain around 35 degrees over the weekend. In the Valle del Guadalhorce, temperatures will rise to 36 degrees this Saturday. On the Malaga coast, temperatures will be milder, around 30 degrees, although in Estepona they will reach 33 and in Fuengirola they will not exceed 28.
