The 31st edition of Seville's Encounter of Alternatives kicked off this weekend at Alamillo Park. Organized by the El Bardal Cultural Association, this event aims to demonstrate that “another world is possible” through a market, forums, and various community activities. The festival will run over two weekends, from April 10 to 12 and April 16 to 19, transforming the venue into a hub for critical thinking and conscious living.
This year, the festival doubles its duration, presenting a more ambitious proposal. The goal is to bring together people who wish to live a healthier, freer, and more respectful life towards the environment and society. All scheduled activities are free of charge and encompass a multidisciplinary offering.
Among the proposals, a market featuring 100% handmade crafts and a selection of freshly prepared organic gastronomy stands out, complemented by the emblematic “Barra Bar-Dal”. Music and performing arts will also play a leading role, with a stage hosting diverse rhythms, from rock and cumbia to Balkan music, rap, and daily batucadas. Additionally, street circus and theater will fill the park's pathways with magic. Spaces for learning and reflection will also be available, with informative talks and discussion tables on current topics.
Attendees can participate in workshops on yoga, artisanal bread making, batucada, painting, meditation, Shiatsu, Balkan dance, and permaculture, among many others. Throughout the event, permanent exhibitions will be open to the public, including “Ecoaldeas y buen vivir” (Ecological Villages and Good Living), featuring photos donated by the “Transdisciplinados” research group from the University of Huelva, and “Palestine: History of 75 Years of Genocide,” with graphic and educational material from the Palestinian Community of Seville.
Furthermore, a family area with a children's section has been designed for the little ones, where they can enjoy magic, storytelling, and juggling. The complete program for this unique event in Seville is available on the Junta de Andalucía website.
