The Junta de Andalucía has confirmed that 77% of the total route of the Seville Metro will be under construction before the end of 2026, with the tendering of the fourth section of Line 3 North.

The Junta de Andalucía has assured that 77% of the complete route of the Seville Metro will be under construction before the end of 2026. This commitment is backed by the receipt of 12 offers, involving 34 companies, to execute the fourth section of Line 3 North, which will connect the Macarena neighborhood with the María Auxiliadora area, on the Ronda Histórica.
The acting Minister of Development, Rocío Díaz, highlighted that the schedule is being met, with three sections already underway and a fourth in progress. The high number of interested companies in the tender, including major national construction firms, reinforces confidence in the project, according to the Ministry.
Currently, works are advancing simultaneously on three fronts. In Pino Montano, the first section has reached 56% completion with containment screens already finished. On the Ronda Urbana Norte, San Lázaro, and Doctor Fedriani, work has intensified in recent days with the operation of a hydrofresadora, precision machinery used for the most demanding excavations along the route, especially around the Virgen Macarena Hospital.
The section now being tendered, measuring just over a kilometer (1,064 meters), will run entirely underground through densely populated urban areas and sites of significant heritage value, such as the surroundings of the medieval wall of Macarena. The budget exceeds 164 million euros, and construction will be carried out using a tunnel-between-screens system.
This route will include two underground stops: the Macarena station, at the beginning of Muñoz León street, with a length of 117 meters and a lobby over 20 meters wide; and the Capuchinos station, between Maestro Quiroga and Cruz Roja streets, with similar dimensions. Both will be organized on two levels—lobby and platforms—with direct street access and complete facilities including stairs and elevators to ensure accessibility.
The contract also includes the replacement of all affected urban services: water, sewage, electricity, telecommunications, and lighting. Once the underground works are completed, a full redevelopment of the affected streets and new tree planting will take place.
