The Seville City Council has launched the second edition of its International Painting Prize City of Seville, offering a 30,000 euro award, the largest amount in Spain for a competition of this nature.

The initiative, managed by the city's Tourism and Culture Department, aims to recognize excellence in contemporary painting and consolidate Seville as a cultural benchmark in the visual arts.
The call for entries for the II International Painting Prize City of Seville 2026 will be open from April 13 to May 20, 2026. Interested artists have a period of 40 calendar days to submit their applications, starting the day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville, in accordance with current regulations on subsidies.

This call, whose prize has an economic endowment for the winner of 30,000 euros, being the highest in Spain, will be open from April 13 to May 20, 2026, both days inclusive.

Artists over 18 years of age, regardless of their nationality or place of residence, may participate. Each participant can submit a maximum of two works, created from the year 2021 onwards, of which they must be the authors and owners. The technique is free, and the dimensions of the works must range between 81 and 250 cm.
Applications can be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the Seville City Council, by searching for the icon “Ayudas, Subvenciones, Becas y Premios” (Grants, Subsidies, Scholarships and Awards) and selecting the section “Cultura. II Premio Internacional de Pintura Ciudad de Sevilla”. In-person submission or via email is also an option. One of the novelties of this edition is the possibility of submitting works by email, which facilitates the participation of national and international artists who are not in Seville at the time of application. The jury's decision will be final, and the winning work will become part of the municipal heritage.
