The Seville City Council has unveiled the program for Corpus Christi 2026, a festival aiming to enhance its religious, cultural, and heritage dimensions with new activities.

The Department of Major Festivals of the Seville City Council has designed a comprehensive schedule of activities to accompany the celebration of Corpus Christi 2026, one of the city's oldest and most representative festivities. Delegate Manuel Alés highlighted the celebration's importance as "one of Seville's great identity markers" and the council's commitment to "reinforce its religious, cultural, and heritage dimension."
Among this year's novelties is the complete renovation of the 96 banners that will adorn the procession route. Designed by municipal technical draftsman José Manuel Peña, the new double-sided red screen-printed fabric banners feature the image of Faith crowning the Custody of the Seville Cathedral and the shield of the Cathedral Chapter. This initiative fully renews the ornamental elements, enhancing the celebration's monumental character. These are in addition to the two large entrance arches in the Plaza de San Francisco, which this year highlight the brotherhoods of Montserrat and El Amparo.
The official program will commence on Tuesday, June 2nd, with a parade by the Santa Cecilia Musical Group at 9:00 PM starting from Plaza Nueva. That same evening, the Plaza de San Francisco will host a concert by the Seville Red Cross Music Band, featuring a repertoire of processional marches.
On Wednesday, June 3rd, the traditional Proclamation by the Sacramental Brotherhood of the Sagrario will take place. In the evening, the Plaza de San Francisco will be the stage for a concert by the Seville Municipal Symphonic Band alongside the duo Violincheli Brothers, blending classical and contemporary music. Additionally, the Brass and Drum Band Nuestra Señora de la Victoria, Las Cigarreras, will perform a concert at the Church of Consolación.
Wednesday's schedule also includes the traditional Sacramental Day of Passion in the Patio de los Naranjos of the Colegial del Salvador, featuring solidarity activities, a charity bar, tombola, and raffle, as well as musical performances by the Redemption Youth Band, the Rocío Brotherhood Choir of Seville, and the Musical Group Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Redención.
On Thursday, June 4th, the day of the Corpus Christi procession, the Ministriles Hispalensis will provide music as the procession passes through the Plaza de San Francisco, reviving historical tunes traditionally associated with the festival. Manuel Alés emphasized that "with this program, we aim to continue bringing Corpus closer to all citizens and highlight the immense cultural, musical, and religious heritage" surrounding this unique celebration.
The delegate concluded by stating that "Seville will once again show the world the grandeur of one of its most universal festivals, thanks to the coordinated work of the City Council, the Cathedral Chapter, the brotherhoods, the music bands, and all the entities that contribute to making Corpus Christi worthy of our history and traditions each year."
