The sand nourishment works at La Barrosa Beach are scheduled to finish this coming Sunday, as confirmed by municipal sources. These essential works for the regeneration of the Cádiz coastline had to be temporarily suspended due to adverse weather conditions, specifically the strong Levante wind affecting the entire provincial coast.
Currently, the operations have resumed and are progressing satisfactorily, with work underway in the Segunda Pista area. The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge included Chiclana in its coastal emergency plan to mitigate damage from winter storms, allocating 50,000 cubic meters of sand to the beach.
Previously, the Demarcation of Coasts conducted a topographic study to identify the most affected areas, determining that the Primera and Segunda Pista required intervention. The municipal delegate for Beaches, Ana González, recently noted that while sand loss had not been excessive, the beach lacked its proper summer profile due to coastal dynamics.
“"The masses are not reconfigured as they should be, coastal dynamics dictate, and that is why these operations must be carried out."
This action is part of a broader plan by the Central Government, which announced in early March an investment of 6.2 million euros for beach regeneration in various towns across the province, including Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Chipiona, Rota, El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, San Fernando, Chiclana, Conil, Vejer, Barbate, and Tarifa.
