The May 17 election day will test citizen mobilization to determine the composition of the Andalusian Parliament for the next four years. The electoral roll has seen a 2.58% increase compared to the June 2022 elections.
The electorate is characterized by a slight female majority, with 183,000 more women than men. Women form the majority from the age of forty onwards, while men are more numerous in younger age groups.
Nearly 369,000 new voters, who have reached the age of majority since the last regional elections, will be able to participate for the first time. Additionally, 302,000 citizens residing abroad have the opportunity to vote from 157 different countries.
Argentina has the largest number of Andalusian voters abroad (69,000), followed by France (42,000) and Germany (33,000). Other countries with a significant presence include Brazil (29,000) and the United Kingdom (20,000).
At the other end, twenty countries register only one Andalusian elector. The Andalusian provinces with the most residents abroad are Malaga (71,000), Granada (60,000), and Almeria (51,000).
To ensure the security of the day, over 16,000 police officers will be deployed. This includes 15,000 personnel from state security forces and corps, with 9,000 agents from the Civil Guard and nearly 6,000 from the National Police. The participation of local police and 206 agents from the Unit of the National Police Attached to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia will also contribute to a comprehensive protection plan.
