The work is being carried out along the urban sections of the ravine, from the Las Angustias neighborhood to its mouth at Playa de Poniente. The objective is to keep the riverbed in optimal condition and ensure its proper functioning during rainfall events.
The mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, highlighted the continuous planning of these tasks, which are maintained throughout the year and intensified in September and October, coinciding with the start of the rainy season. In parallel, the Fire Department is inspecting the culverted ravines, such as the Rambla de los Álamos, to detect and remove any obstacles that could cause blockages.
During the operations, "small reed islets" will be preserved to respect the existing fauna and the environmental function of the ravine, balancing cleaning with natural conservation.
These works, with a total investment of 17,290 euros, extend to various points of the Rambla de Las Brujas, the tributary of the Ronda Sur, the section near the Edificio Pataura, and other riverbeds, including the Rambla de los Álamos between the Puente Toledano and Costa Tropical avenue.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Raquel Escámez, praised the stable programming of these tasks, while the Deputy Mayor for Citizen Security, José Peña, emphasized the preventive nature of the firefighters' inspections to ensure citizen safety against adverse weather phenomena.
