The project, awarded to Gestión y Ejecución de Obra Civil S.A.U., aims to create a more accessible, sustainable, and people-centered urban space. The initiative is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) of Alhaurín de la Torre, which benefits from 8,961,678 euros from the European Union's FEDER Financial Path.
The main objective is to revitalize the historic heart of the municipality, improving urban mobility and reclaiming public space for pedestrians. The future parking facility, with 133 spaces across two underground levels, will facilitate access to the center and include charging points for electric vehicles. The redevelopment of Avenida Isaac Peral will involve the pedestrianization of a large part of its route, new resting areas, and the incorporation of over 80 new trees.
This transformation is part of a broader strategy that includes the rehabilitation of the Municipal Market, the redevelopment of Punto Industrial street, and the transformation of Plaza Alcalde Antonio Vega González. The total planned investment for the PAI exceeds 15.5 million euros, combining European and municipal funding.
The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, met with merchants and business owners on the avenue to inform them about the work schedule and measures to minimize disruptions. A traffic reorganization plan is anticipated, maintaining pedestrian access routes and enhancing road safety on adjacent streets like Pedro Pérez Hidalgo and regulating traffic on Tejar street.
The execution period for the works is 30 months. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
