For the third consecutive year, the Luis del Río Dance Conservatory organizes the celebration of Dance Day, an event that seeks to highlight the relevance of this artistic discipline. The main gala will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at 8:00 PM at the Gran Teatro, where the public can enjoy various pieces of classical, contemporary, and neoclassical dance.
This show is part of the third edition of Danzabril, an initiative that on this occasion pays tribute to the Cordoban philosopher Averroes. The main objective is to highlight the artistic and educational work carried out at the Professional Dance Conservatory.
“"For the teaching staff, it is an opportunity because it also means recycling, updating, and being at the forefront of the subjects we teach in our center; so, without a doubt, we all benefit from this project."
The Conservatory's management has expressed its desire for this project to extend throughout the province, especially after the incorporation of the Provincial Council as a collaborating entity. Danzabril has also offered master classes taught by renowned choreographers such as Iván Delgado (classical dance), María Cabeza de Vaca (contemporary dance), Lucía La Piñona (flamenco), and the company La Itinerante, formed by Daniel Doña and Cristian Martínez.
The choreographers have presented pieces inspired by the figure of Averroes. For example, María Cabeza de Vaca's piece Ruina explores the connection between happiness and wisdom in community, contrasting it with ignorance that leads to fear and violence. For his part, Iván Delgado has created Eco de luz (Echo of Light), a metaphor for 12th-century values brought to the present, inviting new generations to reflect. The company La Itinerante, with its work Danza Oscura (Dark Dance), has investigated Averroes's legacy in defending women's rights, highlighting female strength and solidarity.
