The competition, which took place on September 11, 2026, featured participation from over 50 samples from wineries across Spain, with a notable presence of wines from Montilla-Moriles, Castilla La Mancha, Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, and Asturias.
A professional panel of eighteen tasters, led by José Luis Murcia, President of the Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV), evaluated the samples. The experts, representing various wine sectors and countries including Belgium, highly praised the quality of the presented wines.
As a result, four Grand Gold awards and nineteen Gold Medals were presented. Among the Grand Gold winners were Solera 1981 PX from Coop. La Aurora de Montilla SCA, Humboldt tinto dulce 2001 from Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife, Doblas PX from Bodegas Doblas de Moriles, and Vermut Pérez Barquero from Bodegas Pérez Barquero de Montilla.
The main awards recognized Solera 1981 PX from Coop. La Aurora de Montilla SCA as the Best Wine of the Competition, and Vermut Pérez Barquero from Bodegas Pérez Barquero de Montilla as the Best Vermouth.
The awards ceremony will take place tonight at 8:30 PM during the opening of the Paxera Fair in Montemayor.
