Juan Carlos I's attendance at the bullfighting event was met with a notable ovation from the public filling the Sevillian arena. The bullfighters Morante de la Puebla, Roca Rey, and David de Miranda, the afternoon's protagonists, dedicated their first bull to him, although these did not result in significant triumphs for the matadors. Subsequently, Morante secured two ears from the fourth bull, Roca Rey one from the fifth, and David de Miranda another from the sixth.
The King Emeritus was accompanied throughout by his daughter, Infanta Elena, and watched the bullfight from the Maestranza box, not the Royal Box. He shared this space with Marcelo Maestre de León, Lieutenant of the Elder Brother of the Royal Cavalry Armory of Seville.
Juan Carlos I arrived in Seville at midday, staying at a hotel on Calle Castelar, where he was greeted by his grandchildren Victoria Federica de Marichalar and Felipe Juan Froilán, who also attended the bullring in the afternoon. Prior to the bullfight, the King Emeritus had lunch at the Real Club Pineda.
