The infant remained hospitalized for two months at Seville's Virgen del Rocío hospital, where she ultimately passed away last Friday. The burns covered approximately 60% of her body.
According to investigation sources, the incident occurred in the Sevillian town of Bormujos. The mother alerted authorities to her daughter's severe burns, leading to the infant's emergency transfer to the hospital. The medical team notified the National Police due to the severity of the injuries.
“"If it had been an accident, only one part of the body would have been burned, and her partner would not have had any burns."
In statements to Canal Sur, the mother denied it was an accident, arguing that the burns were extensive and that her partner had sustained no injuries.
The Homicide Unit of the National Police in Seville, along with a court in the capital, is coordinating the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the event.
