The Seville City Council, under Mayor José Luis Sanz, has allocated 2.2 million euros for the installation of 44 new sustainable modular buildings across 18 municipal sports centers.

These new spaces, totaling 1,250 square meters, aim to modernize and enhance the city's sports infrastructure, benefiting approximately 270,000 Sevillians who use these facilities annually. The mayor's visit took place at the Hytasa Sports Center in the Cerro-Amate district.
Mayor José Luis Sanz emphasized the importance of this investment during the visit, noting that the sports sector had suffered from a significant lack of investment and maintenance. "One of the areas most affected by the lack of investment and maintenance was precisely sports," he stated.
The Municipal Sports Institute (IMD), which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, is the main driver of sports in Seville. The mayor stressed that the 270,000 users deserve facilities befitting the Andalusian capital.
The total investment in improving municipal sports facilities amounts to 21 million euros, intended to address deficiencies identified in the 24 directly managed centers. This includes upgrades to paddle tennis courts, football fields, pavilions, roofs, pool climate control, and the installation of LED lighting.
The 44 modular buildings will be distributed across 18 sports centers and will serve as changing rooms, gym boxes, offices, storage areas, restrooms, and security/access control booths. It is anticipated that once the installation in directly managed centers is complete, the initiative will extend to administrative concessions that also require them.
The specific distribution includes 11 new changing rooms, three office-playroom units, five gym boxes, 18 storage units, and six security and access control booths, in addition to a restroom. The mayor reiterated the municipal government's commitment to sports and to providing dignified and modern facilities in all neighborhoods of Seville.
