The Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital in Huelva has paid posthumous tribute to David Cordón, a nurse at the center and a prominent figure in Huelva's sports scene, by naming its library in his memory. This gesture aims to honor the memory of someone who, according to a hospital statement, performed his duties with "exemplary commitment, professionalism, and human quality," and whose loss in the railway accident in Adamuz deeply moved the institution.
During an institutional ceremony presided over by the territorial delegate of the Ministry of Health, Manuela Caro, and the hospital's general manager, Manuel García de la Vega, Cordón's dedication to service, camaraderie, and human quality were highlighted. The management, staff board, and numerous healthcare professionals gathered to support the honoree's family, including his son, a player for Getafe and formerly for Recreativo de Huelva.
The official inauguration of the library, now named the David Cordón Library, symbolizes the association of this space for learning and professional growth with the values that the honoree represented. The center aims for his memory to remain linked to future generations of healthcare professionals.
As part of the recognition, a commemorative plaque was placed at the library's entrance, expressing the eternal gratitude of the institution and his colleagues for a career defined by absolute dedication to others, ensuring his legacy lives on within the center's healthcare community.
