The dancer, part of the Aduares Folklore Group from Breña Alta in La Palma, collapsed on stage during his group's performance at the festival held in Almería's Plaza de la Constitución. The event was suspended following the incident.
Medical teams provided care to the performer for approximately 45 minutes at the scene before transferring him to the Torrecárdenas University Hospital, where he remains admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Tuesday's performance was the third evening of the festival, which featured groups from the Canary Islands, Brazil, Extremadura, Taiwan, and Almería. The incident occurred midway through the performance by the Canarian group.
The Culture, Education, and Traditions Department of the Almería City Council has conveyed its support and best wishes for the dancer's recovery, sending an affectionate embrace to the Canarian group. They also expressed gratitude for the understanding of the other participating groups and the respectful behavior of the audience, estimated at around 1,500 people.
Attendees remained silent during the medical attention and applauded in encouragement as the ambulance departed, showing their support for the Canarian group.
