The Ministry of Health of the Junta de Andalucía has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the Herradura and Rosario chorizo varieties from the La Serrana brand, after the detection of Salmonella spp in routine food controls. The affected batch has been identified as OTE:200526, with a best-before date of August 20, 2026.
The contaminated products have been distributed in a total of 22 locations. In the province of Sevilla, the affected municipalities are San José de la Rinconada, Alcalá de Guadaíra, Marchena, Lora del Río, La Puebla de Cazalla, El Cuervo, Lebrija, Palmar de Troya, Las Cabezas de San Juan, Morón de la Frontera, the capital city, Brenes, Los Rosales, Carmona, and Tocina. In the province of Cádiz, the alert affects Jerez de la Frontera, Alcalá de los Gazules, Arcos de la Frontera, Río San Pedro de Puerto Real, Los Badalejos, Medina Sidonia, and Paterna de Rivera.
Health authorities recommend that consumers who have purchased these products do not consume them and return them to the point of purchase. In case of presenting symptoms compatible with salmonellosis, such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or headache, medical attention should be sought.
The Ministry has informed the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) of the incident, and the Official Control Services of Sevilla and Cádiz are verifying the withdrawal of the products.
