This appointment follows Pedrero's recent departure from his role as tamborilero for the Hermandad del Rocío de Alcalá de Guadaíra, a position he held for over two decades. His Rocío journey spans more than forty years, during which he has accompanied various brotherhoods such as La Línea, Los Palacios, Málaga, and Mairena del Aljarafe.
The tamborilero is a fundamental figure in the Rocío brotherhoods. They not only set the pace of the pilgrimage with the flute and drum but also accompany the most significant moments of the journey—from departure to arrival at the village—and contribute to creating the spiritual atmosphere that defines the romería.
The Hermandad del Rocío de Sevilla, established in 1933, is recognized as one of the largest and most influential branches within the Rocío movement, gathering thousands of members on its massive pilgrimage to the village of El Rocío. Pedrero's inclusion reinforces the tradition and high standards of this corporation.
Beyond his prominent role as a tamborilero, Gustavo Pedrero boasts a solid artistic career. Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Seville, he works professionally in interior decoration, particularly in the retail sector, where he blends contemporary aesthetics with his artistic sensibility.
His creativity also extends to the Rocío world, where he has designed and decorated drums distributed throughout Spain, pieces that combine tradition and innovation. Furthermore, he has composed several Rocío-themed works, including Diez varas de ermita, Flores de tal a Rocío, Capellanía de Baltasar Tercero, and Regina Coeli Incoronata.
