Following the recent clash against Atlético de Madrid, García Plaza acknowledged his team's effort but also issued a clear warning about the upcoming challenges. The Madrid-born coach confirmed the exhaustion of his players, noting that many were “worn out” due to the demanding change in playing style, which is more intense than that implemented by former coach Matías Almeyda.
“"It's going to be hard for them to make those efforts because we were playing in a different way."
Sevilla FC is set to face Levante on Thursday, April 23, at the Ciutat de Valencia, coinciding with the Feria de Sevilla. Subsequently, in less than 72 hours, the team will play another match on Sunday at 6:30 PM in El Sadar against Osasuna. This tight schedule has been a point of contention for the coach.
“"Two matches in three days, we are the only team in the First Division with that, but well, that's how it is."
García Plaza stressed that the demands of his playing system, with “extensive runs and that volume of intensity,” mean that many players are not prepared to make two such significant efforts in such a short period. He highlighted the importance of having the entire squad available to manage the physical load on the players.
