The president of the Sevilla Provincial Council expressed hope that the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) will fulfill its commitment to remodel or build a new IES Híspalis, as the provincial institution has received no updates on the matter. The upcoming provincial budgets will include funding for this complex, which is set to become one of the most important and modern civic, social, cultural, and educational centers in Sevilla.
Key projects to facilitate access for students from the province to higher education in the capital include the future university residence in Pino Montano and the improvement of the Blanco White complex. The new residence in Pino Montano will accommodate 500 students, aiming to prevent accommodation costs from being a barrier. The project also includes over 2,200 square meters of new sports facilities, an 800-square-meter public library, and a 1,500-square-meter multipurpose building.
The provincial institution has exceptionally supported the IES Hispális within the complex. The president stated that the Council will modernize the Pino Montano Complex, enhancing sports facilities, constructing a civic center, and increasing residence capacity.
Regarding the IES Hispális, the Junta de Andalucía, the competent authority, was reminded of a legal anomaly requiring resolution, with an offer to cede spaces for a new institute. The Junta's lack of response has caused uncertainty, but the Council is proceeding with its project.
Next year's budgets will allocate funds for the remodeling of the Pino Montano Complex, expansion of the residence network, the civic center, the new cultural center, and sports facilities. It is expected that the Junta de Andalucía will collaborate on this project, fulfilling its commitment to remodel or build a new IES Híspalis.
Improvements to the residences in Pino Montano and Blanco White aim to retain talent in the province by providing financial support to students from distant municipalities, enabling them to study under the same conditions as those in the capital. The importance of not losing talent due to a lack of opportunities was emphasized.
