The municipal Summer Schools of Córdoba have started for 1,840 minors during the month of July, under the slogan 'Co-responsible today, independent tomorrow', promoting mutual aid and educational leisure.

The Summer Schools of the City Council of Córdoba, celebrating their 25th anniversary, have commenced for this month of July. A total of 1,840 minors will participate in a program that combines leisure and education under the slogan "Co-responsible today, independent tomorrow". The main objective, as explained by the delegate for Social Services and Citizen Participation, Eva Contador, is to instill in children the importance of mutual aid in both the school and family environments.
The initiative aims for minors to understand their role in helping within the family and in all areas of development. To achieve this, various educational workshops, outdoor activities, healthy leisure options, and measures to combat the heat, including swimming pool visits and cultural and sports activities, have been designed. As a new feature, older students will have the opportunity to attend a two-day camp at the Cerro Muriano hostel.
The program is being held in 15 schools distributed throughout the city and its outskirts. Despite receiving 2,007 applications, all interested parties have been accommodated, with places offered in other centers or through group restructuring to avoid waiting lists.
The general schedule for the schools is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. However, an extended schedule from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM is available for minors in vulnerable situations, with places increased from 400 to 592.
These summer schools also represent a significant boost to the local job market, creating 181 jobs. The multidisciplinary team includes monitors, coordinators, personal skills training technicians, and Social Integration Technical Staff (PTIS), who will support students with special educational needs.
Eva Contador highlighted that the schools are a "great tool" that provides peace of mind to working families, ensuring their children are "well cared for and having a good time" in a safe and educational environment.
