The Cadiz municipality of Bornos is celebrating its consolidated Snail Festival from May 29th to 31st, anticipating thousands of attendees and the consumption of up to 5,000 kilos of snails and freshwater crabs.

The Sierra de Cádiz is preparing to host the Bornos Snail Festival once again, a gastronomic event that has become an unmissable date. From May 29th to 31st, the town expects to attract thousands of visitors with a proposal that combines the tasting of snails, freshwater crabs, and winkles with leisure and a festive atmosphere.
The organization estimates that between 4,000 and 5,000 kilograms of these mollusks will be consumed over the weekend, a figure reflecting the festival's growing success. The event will primarily take place around the Castillo Palacio de los Ribera and its gardens, areas offering ideal shaded spots to combat the expected high temperatures.
Due to the constant increase in visitors, spaces for bars, stands, and public services have been expanded this year. The festival, which opens daily at noon and continues into the early morning hours, will feature seven food stalls offering traditional recipes and innovative proposals. Additionally, awards for the different gastronomic categories will be presented on Sunday, May 31st.
The program includes musical performances, play areas, free playrooms, and family-specific spaces with a nursing room and children's activities, aiming to attract a diverse audience. The second vice-president of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Javier Vidal, highlighted the festival's importance in boosting the economy of the inland province, while the mayor of Bornos, Hugo Palomares, emphasized its year-on-year growth.
