The Central Electoral Board has authorized an extension for mail-in voting until 2:00 PM on May 14, 2026, for military and Civil Guard personnel from Andalusia stationed abroad, facilitating their participation in the upcoming regional elections.

This decision, which impacts both Ministry of Defense personnel and Ministry of Interior contingents on missions outside national territory, comes in the context of the elections for the Parliament of Andalusia, scheduled for May 17.
The resolution, signed by the president of the JEC, Eduardo Calvo, on March 31, addresses a request from the Director General of Personnel of the Ministry of Defense, José Ramón Velón. Velón argued for the need for extended deadlines to guarantee the right to vote for military personnel on humanitarian or peacekeeping missions, given the inherent logistical complexities. The JEC adopted this measure after receiving a favorable report from the State Society of Post and Telegraphs.
The deadline extension stipulates that ballots must be deposited at the main Correos office in Madrid, located in Cibeles, or at branch 46 on Guzmán el Bueno, also in the capital. Correos services are obligated to ensure the timely delivery of these votes to the corresponding polling stations.
The agreement has been communicated to the Andalusian Electoral Board for its awareness and subsequent distribution to the Provincial and Zone Electoral Boards. Additionally, it has been notified to the Vice-Ministry of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, the General Directorate of Interior Policy, and the Ministries of Defense and Interior.
