The investigation began last June, when a significant proliferation of graffiti with the signature 'Artone' was detected in various areas of Seville, with a particular focus on the historic center. These markings affected both urban furniture and private properties.
The officers in charge of the case observed a recurring pattern in the alleged perpetrator's actions, who showed a clear preference for vertical traffic signs, using the interior of the signs as a canvas for their tags.
Thanks to the expertise of officers specialized in vandalic graffiti, and after intensive surveillance and analysis with the support of municipal security cameras, the alleged perpetrator was identified. They are accused of a continuous crime of damage.
To date, more than 300 vandalized elements have been counted, including 40 vertical traffic signs, 6 ford signs, 22 mailboxes, 3 traffic light boxes, 3 registration boxes, 9 building facades, 6 building doors, 1 heritage-protected building facade, 200 rental motorcycle trunks, and 61 manhole covers.
These actions can be considered a crime against historical heritage if they affect protected buildings, or serious and very serious infractions according to the new cleaning ordinance. Penalties for this type of infraction can amount to up to 3,000 euros.
