The Martos City Council has celebrated the success of the third edition of the Old Town Festival, held on September 11th and 12th, which combined culture, music, heritage, and crafts with high participation.

The initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Heritage, has transformed the area around the Fortaleza Baja, the Santuario de la Virgen de la Villa, and its streets into a vibrant space of cultural activity. Councilor Elena Molina highlighted the satisfaction with the public's response, stating that "these have been days where we could enjoy with our neighbors a program for all audiences" and in which "we had great acceptance in each of the activities."
Children's activities and the play area registered significant attendance, allowing families to enjoy the festival while exploring the old town. Music was also a highlight, with concerts by local groups and a performance by Vermú, a reference in the national independent scene, demonstrating the festival's ability to merge local talent with nationally relevant acts.
The Torre del Homenaje remained open until midnight, attracting numerous visitors, as did the guided tours of the historic center, which completed their three scheduled slots. Martos's heritage was once again a main attraction, and as Molina emphasized, the festival brings heritage closer to citizens from a different perspective, linking it with culture and leisure.
The market set up around the Fortaleza Baja brought together artists, artisans, businesses, associations, and local collectives, revitalizing the historic center and serving as a showcase for regional products and initiatives. The tavern managed by the Cofradía de la Soledad also served as a notable meeting point.
A free bus service was implemented to facilitate access to the old town, which, according to the councilor, "worked quite effectively," contributing to mobility during the event.
The III Festival del Casco Antiguo is consolidating itself as a proposal to highlight the historical heritage of Martos, making it accessible and dynamic. Councilor Molina thanked the participation and collaboration of all involved, calling the edition "another edition to remember" and announcing the start of work for the next one.
