The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has issued a slow traffic alert with a red service level, as the right lane has been affected since 2:34 PM. However, eyewitnesses report that traffic is completely gridlocked in both directions of the highway.
According to accounts from those who witnessed the event, one of the trucks involved reportedly crossed the median, ending up partially on the roadway. The second heavy vehicle was also involved in the collision, and a car reportedly went off the road.
Traffic officers from the Guardia Civil and Firefighters have been dispatched to the scene of the incident to manage the emergency and work on restoring traffic flow. Efforts to remove the involved vehicles are underway.
