Two spaces at the municipal sports center on the El Burgo road, which were inactive, will be recovered and put into use thanks to a project promoted by the Ronda City Council. After the tender for private exploitation was declared void, the council has decided to facilitate their use by non-profit clubs and associations. The Ronda Jiu Jitsu Club will be the first to occupy these facilities, having carried out the necessary adaptations at no cost to the municipal coffers.
The main objective of this initiative is to move towards the creation of a Municipal Martial Arts School that can host various disciplines such as jiu jitsu, judo, or karate. The municipal delegate for Sports, Bernardo Crespo, highlighted that this project will offer children and adults the opportunity to practice specific sports in Ronda, promoting values such as discipline and self-control.
Miguel Gómez, head of the Ronda Jiu Jitsu Club, thanked the Sports Department for their collaboration and announced that the club will offer accessible prices. Furthermore, he committed to monthly collaboration with Asidoser and with the autism association of Ronda, AOPA. The project also includes free workshops for women victims of gender violence and activities for the prevention of school bullying.
For his part, Javier Ortilles, president of Asidoser, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of this support for continuing their work and promoting the inclusion of children with Down syndrome. In this way, the City Council and the Ronda Jiu Jitsu Club combine the recovery of a municipal sports space with a significant social aspect, expanding the possibilities for participation and access to sports in the city.
