The event, organized by the RASTREA Association and the Alpandeire City Council, will feature the collaboration of approximately twenty conservation entities. According to Juan Carlos Reina, president of RASTREA, the gathering is designed as an educational space open to everyone.
The activity program is diverse and includes practical workshops, expert-led conferences, exhibition stands, the construction and placement of nest boxes, guided fauna observation routes, a solidarity market, climbing, children's activities, and a botanical route, among other initiatives.
The Alpandeire City Council has emphasized the importance of consolidating this fair as an event that contributes to the sustainable promotion of rural tourism, natural heritage, and the environmental richness of the municipality. The organization encourages all interested individuals to visit the town and actively participate.
Juan Carlos Reina also recalled the common barn owl reintroduction project that Alpandeire has been developing since early 2024 using the 'hacking' technique, following their disappearance from the area over two decades ago. This project, aimed at recovering the population of these birds in the region, will be surveyed soon by the RASTREA Association in collaboration with other ornithological associations. Additionally, work is underway to launch a reintroduction project for other nocturnal birds of prey, such as the scops owl and the little owl, in the Valle del Genal.
