The initiative, with an investment of 681,966.01 euros from the Provincial Council of Malaga, will be developed on Adif land, located next to Calle Córdoba and Avenida de Andalucía. The agreement with Adif includes the rental of the plot, which covers an area of 7,250 square meters.
The mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, emphasized that this action addresses the city's parking needs and citizen demand. This new parking facility will join the existing municipal network, which includes parking lots at Campo del Nene, Calle Prado, and the UVA neighborhood. Parking areas have also been promoted in the Feria neighborhood, and plans are underway for a future 500-space underground parking lot on the site of the former military barracks of La Concepción.
The project also includes the reuse of a disused old building on the same plot. Additionally, the wall on Calle Córdoba will be removed, and sidewalks will be renovated, enhancing the surrounding area. The new parking lot will have a reduced fee to encourage vehicle turnover, with a construction period of six months.
Recently, the mayor also announced the creation of another free parking lot in La Galia, in the Padre Jesús neighborhood, with one hundred spaces, and work is progressing on a new road in La Harinera that will provide an additional hundred spaces.
