Mijas is preparing to host the 8th edition of the Cheese and Wine Festival, one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the year. The festival will take place from October 23rd to 25th in the central Virgen de la Peña square, bringing together a total of twenty local hospitality businesses and cheesemakers from the province of Málaga.
The event was presented by the Councilor for Public Works, Melisa Ceballos, and the president of the Association of Industrial Merchants of Mijas (ACIM), Alejandro Jaime, along with a group of merchants. Ceballos highlighted the commitment of Mijas's hospitality sector in promoting the municipality's rich gastronomic offerings, emphasizing that the festival attracts hundreds of visitors annually.
Among the participating hospitality establishments are Bodega del Pintor, Coffee Art, Radikal, Corte de Autor, Confusión, Alboka, Las Terrazas, Las Tablitas, Confitería Maru, La Muralla, Plaza de Toros, El Cañuelo, and Salvador Alarcón. Additionally, there will be a significant representation of Malagueño cheesemakers, referred to as 'master cheesemakers' by Jaime.
The festival will be complemented by musical performances in the same Virgen de la Peña square, a formula that has proven successful by combining culture, entertainment, and gastronomy.
The scheduled hours are: Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM, Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM. To facilitate public access, a shuttle bus service will be provided from La Cantera to the town center.
