The parish of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in La Gangosa will be the focal point for the arrival of the pilgrim image today at 7:00 PM. Subsequently, a Holy Mass will be celebrated in honor of the Virgin, officiated by parish priest Don Jesús Zapata and featuring the participation of the choir.
The program continues this Wednesday, August 26, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary and another Holy Mass at 7:30 PM. The day will conclude with a Velá Romera (a traditional pilgrimage festival) at 10:00 PM, intended as a moment of community and devotion.
Following these initial events, the image will travel to Almería city. On Saturday, August 29, the Virgin of La Cabeza will return to Vícar for a processional Rosary through the streets of La Gangosa starting at 7:30 PM, accompanied by the Agrupación Musical Virgen de las Angustias (Musical Band Virgen de las Angustias).
The Virgin's stay in Vícar will conclude on Sunday with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 AM, a farewell mass officiated by the parish priest, and the traditional besa-cinta (kissing of the ribbon) of the Pilgrim Virgin at 12:00 PM.
This visit positions Vícar as a key point in the diocesan itinerary, combining religious celebration, tradition, and the participation of local groups such as the Agrupación Musical Virgen de las Angustias and the Coro Rociero A Nuestro Aire (Rociero Choir Our Own Air). The visit is part of the Marian Mission of the Diocese of Jaén and the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin of La Cabeza.
