La Puebla de Vícar is preparing to celebrate its patron saint festivities honoring Mary Mother of the Church from June 18th to 21st, with a varied agenda of cultural, sports, and musical events.

The festivities in honor of Mary Mother of the Church in La Puebla de Vícar will take place from June 18th to 21st, although preliminary activities and sports tournaments have already begun to liven up the neighborhood. Competitions in petanque, brisca, dominoes, and paulo are being held at the Senior Citizens' Center and the Church Park, marking the start of the festive atmosphere.
The mayor of Vícar, Antonio Bonilla, presented the program, highlighting the coincidence of the festivities with the 20th anniversary of the Gran Bulevar Ciudad de Vícar. Bonilla described this infrastructure as "the main artery that makes Vícar's heart beat," emphasizing its impact on the municipality's appearance.
The Events Department has designed a diverse program including leisure, culture, sports, music, and religious ceremonies. On Wednesday, the III Traditional Senior Paella will be held next to the Vícar Town Hall, accompanied by Dúo Reencuentro. Thursday will be dedicated to Youth Night in Plaza de la Libertad with local DJs and the final of the Patricio López Antequera Memorial at CEIP Virgen de la Paz.
Friday will officially kick off the festive weekend with the traditional chupinazo (opening siren) at 1:30 PM, followed by the Midday Fair and the group t-shirt contest. The afternoon will feature a performance by La Tribu Rock and the Grand Parade of Floats and Street Performers, with the participation of groups Shamballa and Kalesi, starting from the old football field at 8:30 PM.
The evening festivals will be enlivened by the Orquesta Azahara and DJ Felipe Rubio on Friday; Tentación and Millenium on Saturday; and Pentagrama and DJ Efe Jefe on Sunday. Saturday morning will feature popular activities such as the "Sandía Molona con más peso" (Most Weighty Cool Watermelon) contest, workshops, and a classic vehicle exhibition, in addition to musical performances and dance displays.
Sunday's program includes an MTB gathering for the Carcauz Route, a color festival, and a foam party with 90s music by DJ Caprizo. The Town Hall has informed that the fairground attractions will give priority access to minors with disabilities and will have a daily silent hour (8:00 PM - 9:00 PM).
During the festivities, a Violet Point will be set up to promote safe spaces and prevent situations of harassment or sexist aggression.
