The 2025-2026 sports season for the Adult Municipal Leagues of El Ejido has come to an end. The closing event, held at the Municipal Sports Pavilion, brought together nearly 650 participants who competed in football 7, basketball, and padel.
The Councilor for Sports of the City Council of El Ejido, María José Martín, was responsible for presenting the trophies to the winning teams and athletes. During her speech, Martín thanked the high participation registered and encouraged attendees to continue with sports practice and to sign up for the next edition.
The councilor highlighted the annual growth of sports activity in El Ejido, ranging from the Municipal Sports Schools for the youngest to initiatives promoting active aging among seniors.
In total, 640 residents took part in these leagues. Football 7 remained the most popular discipline, attracting more than half of the participants with 350 players, whose matches were held at the annexes of the Santo Domingo Municipal Stadium.
The basketball category, divided into the Winter League and Spring League, had 190 athletes and was played at the Municipal Pavilion. Meanwhile, the Padel League brought together 100 players, distributed into 41 pairs across five competitions (advanced men's, intermediate, and promotion; women's; and mixed), held at the municipal courts adjacent to the Sports Pavilion.
