The president of the Provincial Council of Almería, José Antonio García Alcaina, visited Berja to meet with Mayor José Carlos Lupión and his Government team. The purpose of the meeting was to review joint projects that both institutions are developing in the locality.
One of the central topics was the intervention in the Castala peri-urban park. The project is nearing the end of its public exhibition period for environmental qualification and is moving towards the bidding phase, once approved by the Municipal Plenary. The mayor detailed the key aspects of this initiative, which aims to enhance the area's tourist and leisure appeal.
The technical proposal includes the adaptation of a bar-restaurant, the creation of a children's playground, and the construction of a multi-adventure park. The works will be designed to integrate harmoniously into the landscape, using native vegetation and minimizing environmental impact.
The new restaurant will be located in the existing building, which will be rehabilitated and renovated. It will feature two floors and a basement, distributed into a storage area, dining room, bar area, equipped kitchen, reception, and management office, in addition to a staff bathroom and an office on the upper floor. The annexed restrooms will also be adapted to ensure accessibility.
The multi-adventure park will include a series of structures and installations with hanging bridges and high-altitude games, built with cables, ropes, and wood on trees. Four circuits will be designed, three of low difficulty and one of high difficulty, to offer options for different audiences.
With this initiative, the Provincial Council and the Berja City Council seek to consolidate the Castala Peri-urban Park as a leisure benchmark in the Poniente region and throughout the province, offering modern, accessible facilities fully integrated into its natural environment.
