The Poniente Almeriense has reaffirmed its conservative electoral profile in the recent Andalusian elections, consolidating the dominance of the right-wing bloc. Voter turnout saw a notable increase in most municipalities within the region. While this surge in participation boosted the vote count for the PSOE in many areas, it was not enough to alter the overall balance of power.
The People's Party (PP) maintains its leadership across virtually the entire territory, securing over 16,000 votes in Roquetas de Mar and more than 12,400 in El Ejido, thereby solidifying its hegemony. However, one of the most significant headlines of the night was the continued and strong growth of Vox. The party is gaining considerable ground, particularly in the larger coastal municipalities and along the agricultural axis, establishing itself as the second-largest force and widening the gap with the left.
In municipalities such as Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido, Vox recorded some of its largest increases, reflecting a trend of strengthening conservative votes in residential and expansion areas. The PSOE, despite improving its figures compared to 2022 in several locations like Vícar and Dalías, remains a considerable distance from the right-wing bloc. The alternative left, represented by parties such as Por Andalucía and Adelante Andalucía, has a much more limited presence, with setbacks in some cases and modest gains in others.
A municipality-by-municipality analysis reveals interesting particularities. In Adra, the PP lost some support while Vox experienced significant growth, indicating a partial vote transfer. Berja shows a slightly different pattern, with the PSOE better resisting the pressure from the right. La Mojonera and Balanegra reflect profiles tied to agriculture and residential areas, with the PP leading and Vox showing sustained growth. Dalías stands out for the largest increase in participation, slightly benefiting the PSOE. Enix presents a stable scenario, while Felix is one of the few municipalities where turnout decreased and Vox lost some support.
The report concludes that the Poniente Almeriense is solidifying its position as a key electoral stronghold for the conservative bloc in Andalusia. The population growth in municipalities like Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido, combined with high voter turnout in these regional elections, increases the region's political weight within the province, widening the electoral gap with the left election after election.
