Throughout October and November, Málaga joins the European Heritage Days with a special program including guided tours, workshops, and routes through historical sites in the province.

Málaga offers a different perspective on its history and heritage through the European Heritage Days, taking place during October and November. This initiative aims to bring less-known historical sites and episodes closer to citizens through visits, routes, and workshops.
The program is part of an Andalusian initiative with over 150 activities across 70 municipalities, organized by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Historical Heritage, and Sport. Under the theme "Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine," the 2026 edition focuses on the conservation of cultural heritage and the transmission of knowledge and traditions.
The Málaga Museum will host a workshop on Phoenician civilization, highlighting the importance of this people in the founding of Malaka over 2,700 years ago. The museum's archaeological collection allows for tracing the city's evolution and its relationship with the Mediterranean.
In the capital, the Roman Theatre, located at the foot of the Alcazaba, will be a focal point. This visit allows for understanding the organization of the Roman city and how its remains are integrated into the current urban landscape.
Outside the capital, Álora and Ardales will offer a guided itinerary through the hydraulic system of the Caminito del Rey and the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes. The activity will focus on the constructions and water management systems that have transformed the landscape.
In the westernmost part of the province, Casares will host a route through the Sierra de la Utrera, exploring a heritage linked to geology and human presence over time, extending beyond grand monuments.
The days invite a rediscovery of familiar places such as the Roman Theatre, the Málaga Museum, the surroundings of the Caminito del Rey, or the Sierra de la Utrera, reflecting on their history and the need for their future conservation.
The complete program, including schedules and participation conditions, can be consulted on the official program of the Junta de Andalucía.
