The Aljaraque City Council, in collaboration with the Kalathoussa Cultural Association, hosted the XXIV Archaeology and Territory Days and the XII Iberian Southwest Archaeology Meeting. These events, held from October 20 to 22, 2022, in Corrales and Aljaraque, brought together numerous scholars and specialists from Spain and Portugal, strengthening the research and dissemination of the region's historical heritage.
The days were marked by the high quality of the presentations and the participation of researchers from various backgrounds. A significant portion of the works presented have been compiled and published in the digital proceedings of the meeting, facilitating their access and dissemination. The publication, comprising 726 pages and including illustrations and photographs, was made possible by the sponsorship of the Aljaraque City Council and the efforts of the organizers.
The Mayor of Aljaraque, Adrián Cano González, expressed his pride in the municipality's consolidation as a center of knowledge and thanked the organizers, political officials, technicians, and researchers for their contributions. Meanwhile, the Councillor for Culture, Ana Mora García, highlighted the importance of municipal collaboration and the perseverance of those involved in positioning Aljaraque on the map of knowledge.
The event received support from various entities, including the Provincial Council of Huelva, the University of Huelva, the Junta de Andalucía, and the Port Authority of Huelva, among others. The digital publication of the proceedings, edited by Juan Aurelio Pérez Macías and Pedro Campos Jara, was chosen to maximize accessibility and visibility through internet search engines.
The choice of Corrales as a venue was deliberate, given its historical significance linked to the mining railway and the Tharsis Wharf, as well as the presence of emblematic buildings such as the Cine-Teatro and the Casino Minero. The digital publication of the XII EASP proceedings is available on the Aljaraque City Council website.
